Itinerary Detail
Day 01: Kathmandu City/ Swoymbhunath and Patan City

Sightseeing of Kathmandu City including Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, the temple of the Living Goddess. You also visit Kasthamandap - a temple built from a single tree from which Kathmandu derives her name. A short drive takes you to Swoymbhunath; the oldest Buddhist shrine, located on small hill to the west of kathmandu City, Looking east, one sees the entire Kathmandu valley spread out below.

After Lunch sightseeing of Patan - an ancient city of fine arts. The city was founded in 250 A.D. Renowned for its fine arts in Bronze, Silver and Copper sometimes called "The town with a thousand golden roofs". This city remains a center for craftsmen and artists anxious to preserve its tradition. We also visit the Tibetan handicraft center for watching people weaving the beautiful, fine quality rugs.

Transfer back to the hotel for overnight.

Day 02: Bhaktapur/Thimi/ Pashupati/ Boudda

We visit the medieval city of Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon. It is situated about 17 kms east of Kathmandu and was one of the three kingdoms of the Mallas. Here we shall visit the Lion Gate, picture Gallery, beautifully embellished golden gate and 17th centure palace of Fifty-five Windows. The city's ancient temples and palaces are magnificent examples of Newari craftsmanship with their beautiful carved wooden windows and latticework, and Bhaktapur's people are still renowned for their pottery and hand-woven Fabrics, including the traditional local red and black saris.

From Bhaktapur we continue to Thimi, which lies on a plateau 12 kms east of Kathmandu. The village's mainly Newar inhabitants are skilled craftspeople, specially known for making exquisite paper masks and pottery.

In the late afternoon we visit the Pashupatinath Temple, famous for its superb architecture, two-tiered golden roof and silver doors. Built in 1696 and dedicated to Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath is the most sacred of Nepal's Hindu temples and a famous pilgrimage site. Before returning to the city, we also pay a visit to Bouddhanath, The World's largest stupa, and a site of great veneration for Buddhists.
